Monthly Giveaways at Wood-N-Lead: How to Win

Pull up a stool and grab a cup of coffee, folks! It’s good to see you back in the shop. Things have been humming along here at Wood-N-Lead, and the smell of fresh-cut pine is heavy in the air today. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the folks who make this business what it is, and that’s you. Being a craftsman for the collector community is by far the most rewarding. Whether you’re looking for a top-tier firearm display or just a unique way to show off a piece of history, you’ve helped me turn a passion into a hobby.

I’m a firm believer that this collector community is something special, and in the world of antique guns and historical collectibles, we’ve got a real tight-knit bunch. So, I figured it was high time I started testing the waters with a way to give back. I’m not talking about some corporate “loyalty program” with points and fine print. Not a chance. We’re keeping it simple, neighborly, and most importantly: fun.

The fun has officially begun, folks! We are kicking off a recurring monthly giveaway right here at Wood-N-Lead. I want to make sure every single person who supports this shop has a chance to walk away with a little something extra to show my appreciation.

Now, I know some folks get nervous when they hear the word “giveaway.” They think there’s a catch or some complicated ritual involved. Not here. Not on my watch. I like things to be as sturdy and straightforward as the felt-covered pegs on my display plaques.

Here is how we’re doing it: Every single plaque purchased during the calendar month equals one entry into the drawing.

It doesn’t matter if you’re buying a wall-mount unit for a 1858 Remington or a free-standing shelf mount for a classic Colt; every order gets your name in the hat. Buy two? That’s two entries. Buy five for your whole collection? That’s five chances to win. Simple. But there’s no purchase even necessary!  Just message me and ask to be entered to win.

I’ll be honest with you: my photography skills might be a little rough around the edges (I’m better with a chisel than a camera!), but I can promise you that the prizes we’re putting up are 100% shop-certified quality. We’re doing a drawing the first week of every month to announce the winner from the previous month. It’s my way of making sure the excitement stays high and the shop stays busy.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I don’t just build “holders.” I build displays that tell a story. That’s why I include that artificially aged cardstock on every inventory item I build. It provides the specs, the history, and the soul of the firearm.

This giveaway is just an extension of that philosophy. I want to build a community where we can share that history together. I cringe at the thought of a beautiful historical piece just gathering dust in a dark corner or, heaven forbid, a generic plastic display. (You won’t find any of those here!) A true collector knows that a piece of history deserves a spotlight.

Why I Do What I Do

Some folks ask me why I bother with all the extra steps. Why the handcrafted plaques? Why the felt-covered pegs? Why the aged paper?

The answer is simple: Because details matter. When you’re dealing with historical artifacts, “good enough” isn’t good enough. If I wouldn’t put it on my own mantle, I won’t send it to yours. I take a lot of pride in the fact that my plaque designs are used by folks who truly care about the heritage of these firearms.

The giveaway is just my way of saying “thanks for noticing.” It’s a way to put a smile on a customer’s face and maybe add a little extra character to their collection room.
