The Fun Has Begun!

Wood-N-Lead logo featuring vintage revolver

Well, hello there, folks! Pull up a stool and lean in close, because I’ve got some news that’s been rattling around my brain like a loose screw in a tool drawer. You know how they say April showers bring May flowers? Well, here at Wood-N-Lead, those May flowers aren’t just popping up in the garden, they’re blooming right here in the shop!

I’ve spent many a late night lately, surrounded by the smell of sawdust and Minwax, thinking about how much I appreciate you all. It takes all kinds to make the world go round, and in my line of work, I’m lucky enough to meet the best kind: the history buffs, the collectors, and the folks who know that a fine firearm deserves a home better than a dusty old shelf. So, I figured it was high time we had a little bit of fun together.

Starting this month, we are kicking off something I like to call the Monthly Sweepstakes. Now, don’t go thinking I’ve gone all “big corporate” on you. This is just my way of saying thanks and having a little excitement while the finish dries.

The “Prize Vault” (Or Something Like It!)

The Prize Vault

Every time someone picks up a handcrafted display plaque from the site, their name goes right into the hat. And that hat? Well, it leads straight to the Prize Vault.

Now, let’s be honest for a second. If you came to the shop and went looking for a high-tech, laser-guarded vault, you’d be searching for a long time. In reality, the “Prize Vault” is a sturdy cardboard box sitting in the corner of the shop, right next to the scrap pile. But hey, if you squint your eyes just right and turn your head about forty-five degrees to the left… well, you can almost imagine it’s a reinforced steel safe!  (I grew up as an only child, so my imagination is still running at about a hundred miles an hour). It’s a vault to me, and that’s what we’re calling it!

Inside that “vault” is a collection of things I’ve put together specifically for the folks who support what I do. We’re talking promotional items that’ll let you show off your love for the craft even when you’re not staring at your wall-mounted Colt Army Model 1860.

No Purchase? No Problem!

I know, I know. You’re probably thinking, “There’s always a catch! I bet I have to buy the whole shop just to get a name in that box!”

That’s not how we do things around here. I’m a firm believer in fairness. While every plaque purchase definitely gets you an entry, I want everyone to have a fair shake at the goodies. If you want to enter without spending a dime, all you’ve got to do is head over to the contact page and fill out the form.

Just send me a message saying something like, “Put my name in the hat!” or even “I never win anything, please, please pick me!” I’ll be honest: I might feel for you if you’ve had a run of bad luck, but the drawing is strictly random. I might buy you a cup of coffee if we ever meet in person, but for the sweepstakes, everyone is on level ground.  Let’s keep it neighborly!

What’s in the Box for May?

May Prize Package

I didn’t want to just throw some junk in a box and call it a day. I wanted these prizes to be things you’d actually use. Here is the rundown for the very first prize package:

  • 1 Wood-N-Lead Printed Sport T-Shirt: You get to pick your size and color from what I’ve got in stock. It’s perfect for wearing out to the range or just lounging around the house.
  • 1 Set of 4 Slate Drink Coasters: These are the real deal. Laser-engraved with the Wood-N-Lead and Pistol Plaques logos. They’ve got that nice weight to them that says, “I care about my furniture and my firearms.”
  • 1 Pen and Pocket Notebook Set: For when you’re out and about and need to jot down the serial number of that rare piece you just spotted at the gun show.
  • 2 Project Childsafe Gunlocks: Now, this is important. I wanted to make sure these were included.
  • And Maybe More! I’m known to toss in a few extra surprises if I find something cool while I’m tidying up the shop.

The Boring Legal Stuff (The “Fine Print”)

Alright, enough of the fun talk. We have to lay down the law so everything stays above board. I’m being blunt here because I want you to know exactly how this works.

  1. Who can enter? Open to legal U.S. Residents who are 18 or older. If you’re living elsewhere, I’m sorry: shipping these days is enough to make a grown man cry, so we have to keep it local for now.
  2. When is the drawing? We’ll pick a winner by random drawing after the first of each month.
  3. How will I know if I won? I’ll send an email to the address you provided. Check your spam folder! If I don’t hear back within 3 weeks, I’m going to assume you went off the grid, and I’ll roll that prize over into the next month’s package.
  4. The Small Print: I’m not responsible for lost or stolen prizes once they leave my hands, and I reserve the right to change things up if I need to. But don’t worry, I’m not planning on going anywhere. This contest runs for as long as I feel like it!

Let’s Make Some Memories

Finished Plaque

At the end of the day, Wood-N-Lead isn’t just about selling a piece of wood and some felt. It’s about honoring history. Whether you’re displaying a Colt Army Model 1860 or a family heirloom passed down through three generations, you’re telling a story.

I’m just a guy in a workshop trying to provide a quality stage for those stories. I might not be the world’s best photographer: you should see some of the blurry messes I take before I get a good shot for the site!: but I know how to treat a customer right. I’ll always go the extra mile for a customer’s smile.

So, what do you think? Are you ready to get your name in the hat? I’m already looking forward to seeing who wins the first round. If you’ve got any suggestions for what else we should put in the “Prize Vault” for future months, don’t be a stranger! Shoot me a message or leave a comment. This is a community, and I want you all to feel like you’re right here in the shop with me.

The fun has officially begun! Get those entries in, and good luck to every one of you.

Extra mile for a customer’s smile,

Your Wood-N-Lead Craftsman
